Investing in our community’s health through grantmaking and community education programs is at the root of our work. Funding approximately $70 million in grants from 2011-2022, we strategically invest in programs that prevent and respond to the underlying causes of poor health. We recently completed a Community Health Needs Assessment to better understand how our community defines health and their health needs.
As an organization, we prioritize funding programs that use innovative approaches to improve the health and wellness of our community and the health outcomes of our residents. The strategic priority areas established by our Board of Commissioners:
Funding Priority Areas | |
Mental Health | Clinical and non-clinical mental health and substance use disorder prevention and treatment that increases patient access to care. |
Healthcare Access and Quality | Clinical services (medical and dental) including care coordination and supportive navigation of systems that reduce barriers to individuals accessing care. |
Food Security | Nutritious food is available to support the health needs of each resident. |
More information about specific objectives and strategies for each funding priority area can be found in our Strategic Plan 2023-2024.
All applications received are considered for funding, with review and decision ultimately made by our voter-elected Board of Commissioners.
Verdant’s Multi-Year Health Program requests are open for applications semi-annually throughout the year, and additional requests for proposals for specific needs identified by the Board of Commissioners will be issued as they arise.
In late 2021, Verdant launched the use of its Grant Portal, which utilizes a web-based system called Fluxx. Through this portal, we:
This tool allows Verdant to track the impact of its grants while also streamlining the process for our community partners.
Once approved for funding, grantees will be expected to submit reports through the Grants Portal. Grantees are required to submit program, outcome, and financial reports mid-year in the one year grant cycle and then a final report following the award end date.
We have assembled resources to assist organizations in responding to our funding opportunities.
Verdant has created video tutorials to assist organizations in navigating the use of Fluxx, our Grant Portal. Visit our video library.
