Community Update | February 2025

During the past 6 months, Verdant Commissioners engaged in strategic planning and examined how our investments and programs are meeting our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of the whole community. This work led to the creation of a new three-year strategic plan, which Verdant Commissioners voted to adopt at the January 29th Board Meeting.

The new 2025-2028 strategic plan is designed to better align Verdant resources and activities with collaborative health projects focused on refined priorities: Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Mental Health and Access to Direct Healthcare Services. Verdant will continue to invest in food security, hygiene services for the homeless and domestic violence services, however those investments will be through a direct contracting process rather than an application process. Verdant is shifting away from directly providing services like nutrition and case management. Instead, it will invest in community partners, enabling them to develop and deliver programs that best support residents of South Snohomish County.

The announcement does not affect funding for 2025 awards. The full strategic plan can be seen here.

We encourage you to join us for upcoming Community Conversations at the Verdant Community Wellness Center on February 18th, 20th or 25th at noon and at our Verdant Partner Roundtable on March 19th at 3:00 pm. These meetings will provide additional details and the opportunity to discuss our 2025-2028 funding priorities.

We recognize that carrying out our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of our community is a joint endeavor with you, our partners. Thank you for your continued dedication to improving the health of our community.
