Sex Trafficking and Mental Health
Sex trafficking is a crime that impacts every aspect of a victim’s life. Often, the most detrimental impact is on their mental health, a top Verdant priority. This form of abuse occurs when a person is forced or coerced into performing sex acts in exchange for anything of value, including money, housing, or drugs. The National Human Trafficking Hotline (NHTH) reports that 45,018 cases of sex trafficking have been recorded since 2007.
