In an effort to promote our health-focused programs to the community and offer high-quality classes to as many people as possible, Verdant has developed class attendance terms and policies. When registering for classes, you will now be asked to accept our terms of use which include specific information about Verdant’s monthly e-Newsletter, class attendance, fees and refunds when applicable. Please see more details about these and other policies below:
E-Newsletter
Upon registration for a class, participants will be subscribed to Verdant’s monthly e-Newsletter distribution list. Participants can choose to unsubscribe if they choose.
Class Attendance and Cancellation Notice
Registration for our classes is seen as a firm commitment that you will attend. Because many classes have limited space, and even waiting lists, we require a minimum of 48-hour notice before the class start time to cancel your registration. Notice may be provided via email or by phone. If an individual repeatedly does not provide appropriate cancellation notice, they may no longer be eligible to participate in Verdant classes or programs.
Cancellations for Classes with a Fee (revised June 2019)
If there is a fee for the class or program, no refunds will be issued for participant cancellations. Individuals will be eligible to receive class credit in the amount paid if they cancel with a minimum of 48-hour notice before class start time. With less than 48-hour notice, individuals will not be eligible for class credit. For class series that take place over several sessions, 48-hour notice is required prior to the first session. No prorated or partial class credit will be offered.
If Verdant cancels a class for any reason, participants can choose between a refund issued as a check or class credit. Checks will be mailed within ten (10) business days.
Utilizing Class Credit (added June 2019)
To register for a new class utilizing class credit, participants must contact Verdant by phone or in-person at the Verdant Community Wellness Center. Credits are valid for two (2) years from date of issue.
Age Requirements for Cooking Classes
The majority of our cooking classes and demos are designed for adults, ages 18 and older. We do offer specific classes for teens and elementary-aged children and their parents. Please review the class description before registering to make sure the class is appropriate.
Class Cancellation Policy
Verdant reserves the right to cancel a class due to inclement weather, emergencies, or low registration that does not meet listed minimums. If we need to cancel, we will notify individuals by email or by telephone when no email is available. To ensure we can reach you, please be certain that you provide an accurate email and telephone number.
Food Allergy Policy
Our cooking classes and demos use flour, sugar, butter, eggs, nuts of all varieties, and other ingredients that may not be considered allergy-safe. If you choose to register yourself or your children for Verdant classes that involve preparing and sampling food, it is your responsibility to discuss any concerns with the instructor before consuming any foods.
Parking
Free parking is available for classes and programs at the Verdant Community Wellness Center. When attending a class, please be sure to park in the lot directly behind our building. When possible, please park in spaces marked Verdant. Please do not park in spaces along the front, side, and back of the Party Store located next door.
Inclement Weather Policy
Verdant makes every effort possible to keep the Community Wellness Center and its programs running during periods of inclement weather. Operating decisions are based on weather alerts, road and school closings, and the ability of the staff and the public to travel and operate the facility safely.
For All Classes (Youth and Adult):
- If the Edmonds School District has cancelled school due to inclement weather, all daytime and evening classes and facility use is cancelled.
- If the Edmonds School District has a delayed start due to inclement weather:
- We will cancel all morning classes and facility use.
- A decision regarding afternoon and evening classes and facility use will be determined by 10 a.m. by Verdant’s Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
- Verdant will make its best efforts to finalize a decision by 3 p.m. Friday related to cancellations for Saturday classes and facility use.
Please feel free to contact our Community Wellness Center at (425) 582-8600 for any questions on class cancellations or modification in operating hours for inclement weather.
