With hospital Intensive Care Units in Snohomish County capacity at 90 percent, the rise in COVID-19 cases in our community is clear from the graphic above from the Snohomish Health District (SHD) and Snohomish County. According to SHD, the current surge is fueled by: not enough vaccination coverage, decreased preventive measures, and the “game changer” Delta variant. Unchecked, a single Delta case on average will spread to 5-8 other people, compared to 2-3 people for previous strains.
