Lifestyle Modification

Free weekly support to improve nutrition and physical activity habits

** Healthy Living Coaching Group

Learn goal-setting strategies, nutrition tips, physical activity ideas, debunk health myths, and stay accountable. Facilitated by nutrition and exercise professionals. We post the topics online in advance, so take a look and join us.

Offered every Tuesday (except holidays) from 6-7 p.m. at Verdant. No registration required. | Cost: Free

Free Registered Dietitian Nutritionist-led classes to promote healthier eating

** Monthly cooking demos in our teaching kitchen

Each month, Verdant offers at least one adult cooking demonstration with a focus on healthy eating and chronic disease prevention. Taught by Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, each class includes recipes and samples and is free. Visit our online calendar to browse for classes labeled “Cooking Demo” and click to register.

** Quarterly nutrition education programs

At our quarterly nutrition education programs, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and other health professionals present topics related to how food choices impact health and well-being. Verdant also occasionally offers “Learn & Taste” classes, which combine nutrition education with a related cooking demonstration. Low-cost class series that focus on lifestyle changes in nutrition and/or physical activity habits

** Mediterranean for Life

Our Mediterranean for Life program is based on the Mediterranean Diet, a plant-centered, anti-inflammatory diet. In the 6 group sessions led by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, you will enjoy a culinary demo, get recipes, try food samples, and discuss strategies to support healthy eating, physical activity, and changing your lifestyle habits.

** Meal Planning & Grocery Store Tour

Join us to gain strategies to help plan meals that fit your lifestyle, health goals, and budget. This is a 3-part class series and grocery store tour taught by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

** Cooking with Confidence

In this 3-part class series you will learn techniques to use in the kitchen, including baking, roasting, sauteing, dicing, and more.

** Plant-Powered Whole Foods

In this 3-part class series, we will take an in-depth look at current eating patterns and identify areas for nutritional improvement through plant-based foods.

Offered 2-3 times per year. | Cost: $15 per person (scholarships available).

** Core Strength & Balance

Learn exercise from a fitness professional that will help you strengthen your core muscles and improvement stability and balance in this 4-part class series.

Weight Management

Free consultations with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to work toward a healthy weight

** Getting to Goal Weight Reduction Program

Partner with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to identify nutrition and activity goals that meet your individual needs. Together you will develop a personalized weight management plan, identify short-term steps that are achievable and measurement, and meet regularly one-on-one with the RDN during a three-month period.

Diabetes / Pre-Diabetes

Free classes on preventing & living with diabetes through healthier choices in food, activity, and lifestyle

** Diabetes-Friendly Living: A 4-Week Series for Adults with Type 2

In this 4-part series, taught by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator, learn dietary strategies for everyday better blood sugar control, how to identify trends with your blood sugar, and how activity, medication, stress, and sleep impact your blood sugar. This small-group program is for people diagnosed with diabetes who have already had formal diabetes education.

** Monthly Support Group

This drop-in group is for individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and their support people. It is organized and facilitated by Swedish Edmonds’ Diabetes Education team members.

Offered once per month, currently on a Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. Please see the website calendar for specific dates. | Cost: Free

** Education, Prevention, and Screening Events

We host diabetes education and screening events, with certified diabetes educators, registered dietitians, and other trained experts to share information about diabetes prevention and offer support and resources.

Wellness Navigation

Free consultation to review your health goals with referral to Verdant programs and/or community resources

If you are unsure which Verdant services or community resources could be right for you, you may benefit from a free consultation with our wellness navigators. These 30-minute appointments can take place during the daytime or evening and must be scheduled in advance by calling (425) 582-86.
