COVID-19

The situation with novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is evolving quickly in our community. The Verdant Health Commission continues to monitor the changing conditions, closely following the updates and guidance from public health experts with the Snohomish Health District. It is important to know that there have been no known cases of COVID-19 connected to the Verdant Community Wellness Center. But with the safety of our program participants, community, and staff foremost in our minds, we are following the recommendation of public health and as a result, have cancelled all classes, programs, and services scheduled to take place at the Verdant Community Wellness Center and will be closed from now through Saturday, March 14, 2020.  We will continue to monitor updates and will make decisions about future programming and services at a later date.

Protecting Community by Supporting Social Distancing

Public health officials are recommending avoiding non-essential gatherings of many people. We recognize the importance of taking action during this critical time when prevention strategies can make a large impact in slowing the spread of COVID-19. With the cancellation of our programs and services and closure of the Verdant Community Wellness Center through March 14, we are working to protect those who are at higher risk from COVID-19, which includes: those who are older than 60 years of age who have an underlying medical condition, like heart disease, lung disease, or diabetes; people with weakened immune systems; or individuals who are pregnant.

Community classes and meetings organized by Verdant and/or hosted at the Verdant Community Wellness Center will be postponed or cancelled through March 14.  This also includes walk-in services like North Sound 2-1-1 community resource navigation, health insurance enrollment, prescription drug assistance, veterans resource navigation, and one-on-one appointments. These services may be available through other means. Please see the contact information listed at the top of this page.

Simple Precautions

Please remain vigilant with your personal behaviors and preparedness. We cannot eliminate COVID-19, but we can limit its spread by:

  • Washing your hands with soap and water frequently, especially after having physical contact with others, being in public places or health care facilities, when leaving work or school, and upon returning home
  • Avoiding touching our face (mouth, nose, eyes)
  • Staying home when you are sick
  • Staying away from other sick people
  • Covering your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, throwing the tissue away, and then washing your hands
  • Cleaning frequently touched objects and surfaces with a disinfectant

If you have a fever, cough, and/or difficulty breathing, please take care of yourself, your family, your coworkers and seek medical attention. You will want to call your health care provider in advance and follow their guidance. If you have questions about whether you are at higher risk from COVID-19, ask your health care provider.
