Compliments of OMF Cares, Swedish/Edmonds and the Verdant Health Commission
Edmonds, WA, July 2013 – Just in time for the first heat wave of this summer, local military families have the opportunity to swim for free at Edmonds’ Yost Pool, thanks to a partnership between Operation Military Family’s non-profit branch, OMF Cares, Swedish/Edmonds medical center and the Verdant Health Commission. Each organization is donating $1000 to purchase at least two dozen family season passes for area military families to be used at Yost Pool this summer. Eligible participants who would like a free summer swim pass for their family can contact Nicholas McCallon at OMF Cares at NMcCallon@operationmilitaryfamily.com or 1-877-516-8323 ext 109.
“OMF Cares is excited to help spread some extra summer fun to our deserving military families,” says OMF founder and Navy Veteran Mike Schindler. “We’re extremely grateful to our community for their generous donations that allowed us to make this happen!”
“Swimming is an excellent way for students to stay active during the summer school break,” says David Jaffe, chief executive at Swedish/Edmonds. “Yost Pool is a local treasure and we’re pleased to be able to help fund these passes for the children of military families.”
This partnership was a natural fit for the Verdant Health Commission.
“We love the idea of giving military families a chance to be active and take advantage of the beautiful outdoor fitness opportunities in our community,” said Carl Zapora, superintendent of the Verdant Health Commission.
OMF Cares is the non-profit branch of Operation Military Family, LLC (OMF), a Veteran-owned and operated organization founded by Navy Veteran Michael Schindler, who has dedicated his life to supporting our military families. For more information, please visit www.omfcares.org.
