Transition into parenthood can be overwhelming as we adjust to new roles and unfamiliar, possibly unexpected experiences. Having a place where mothers can connect with and support one another about the realities of how hard this can be helps ease the stress of this transition. 85% of new mothers experience the “baby blues,” but Perinatal (Postpartum) Mood or Anxiety Disorder (PMADs) differ from the “baby blues” in that PMADs symptoms last beyond the initial 2-3 weeks following birth. PMADs can include symptoms that are more severe and more diverse, and may not appear until well into toddlerhood.
This 8-week group will offer support and information related to PMADs for moms, their partners, and their supportive family members or friends (space permitting) to process, hear others’ stories, and to learn that they are not alone.
This group is facilitated by Darla Greico, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, experienced in perinatal mental health, life transition into parenthood, and early childhood bonding/attachment.
This free, 7-week group runs on Wednesdays, August 14 – September 25, 2019 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Verdant Community Wellness Center, 4710 196th St. SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
