Join Dr. Jim Distelhorst for an up-to-date talk on the health benefits of staying physically active across the age span. Learn how an active lifestyle can decrease your risk of developing certain chronic conditions, prevent falls, and improve physical and emotional well-being.
Next, hear from Terry Huffer, the Active Older Adult Director for the Snohomish County YMCA. She will lead a demo and have you up and out of your chair learning how you can incorporate activity into your everyday lifestyle. Learn easy ways to stay active at home and about programs and resources to stay active in the community.
What To Expect: In this class, participants learn from a physician and fitness professional about physical activity.
- Class is 1 hour long.
- You will be seated for the majority of the time.
- You will have the opportunity to participate in an exercise demo that will include movements while seated or standing next to your chair.
- The instructor will provide ways you can adapt acitivities to your own level.
- You should wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes you can move in.
