Understanding Institutional Racism – Hosted by Tony Nabors

Community Foundation of Snohomish County & Verdant Health Commission Present: 2022 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summer Workshop Series

Racism has maintained a consistent presence in our society and in the news. Discussions about race have been the cause of many impassioned debates and disagreements. I believe that one of the primary sources of these disagreements is a fundamental misunderstanding of the difference between “racial prejudice” and “institutional racism.” This is a game changing workshop that clarifies what exactly institutional racism is, using the U.S. history of public housing as a significant example of how this has manifested. This workshop moves the conversation from the realm of “differing opinions” to “undeniable fact that must be acted upon.” Participants will leave this session feeling highly motivated and inspired to participate in your organization’s racial equity initiatives.
