Commit to change!

Verdant is offering two NEW programs for individuals ready to commit to improving nutrition and increasing physical activity starting in June 2018. You’ll benefit from:

  • Small groups. Receive information personalized to your needs.
  • Being engaged. Participate in group discussions and activities and experience support from the instructor and others in the program.
  • Deeper knowledge. Dive into topics in more depth.
  • Take-home activities. Practice and implement new and healthy changes.

One new class focuses on nutrition, and the other focuses on physical activity. Read on for details.


Plant-Powered Whole Foods Challenge

Are you ready to improve your dietary habits? Join us for this 3-part class series where we will take an in-depth look at current eating patterns and identify areas for nutritional improvement through plant-based foods.

  • Cost is $15 (scholarships available to residents of Public Hospital District No. 2, Snohomish County based on income — learn more on the registration website)
  • Dates are Thursdays, June 7, 14, and 21, 2018
  • Time is 6-7:30 p.m.

Each week will build upon the next, so plan to attend all 3 sessions. This series will be led by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and is only for those individuals ready to make dietary changes.

What you can expect:

  • 3 small-group sessions with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist including group discussions and filling out food surveys
  • Activities and food records to be completed at home through the rest of the week
  • Nutrition information and recipes featuring plant-based foods
  • Journaling materials to record your daily food choices

What’s expected of you:

  • A commitment to attend all three sessions
  • A desire to learn more about plant-based foods and areas for nutritional improvement
  • A commitment to make changes to your eating patterns with the intent to incorporate more plant-based foods
  • To have fun and enjoy your journey to healthier eating!

Class size will be limited to no more than 12 participants to allow for individualized instruction.

Strength Training & Fitness Challenge

Join us for a 4-week series of small group exercise sessions guided by a fitness professional. All abilities are welcome. Exercises can be modified as needed with help from the instructor. You’ll be expected to participate in all 4 sessions, working with resistance bands in class and at home. Class details are below:

  • Cost is $20 (scholarships available to residents of Public Hospital District No. 2, Snohomish County based on income — learn more on the registration website)
  • Dates are Mondays, June 4, 11, 18, and 25, 2018
  • Time is 2-3 p.m.

What can you expect:

  • 4 small group training sessions with personalized guidance from a fitness professional
  • A take-home exercise program to be completed at home through the rest of the week
  • Online access to your fitness professional via email to ask questions & voice concerns
  • An assortment of resistance bands to complete your home-exercise program
  • Journaling materials to record your progress

What’s expected of you:

  • A commitment to following the program (1 on-site training session weekly + 3 exercise sessions to be performed at home through the remainder of the week)
  • A desire to learn new exercises and challenge yourself physically
  • A commitment to make changes with the intent to achieve your fitness goals
  • To have fun and enjoy your own personal fitness journey!

Class size will be limited to no more than 12 participants to allow for individualized instruction.
