Program funded: January 2016 through December 2018
Bike Basics 101 strengthens middle school students’ knowledge of bike and traffic safety, and it encourages them to use a bicycle for fitness, transportation and fun. This program is an extension of the Basics of Bicycling, already offered to students in the Edmonds School District’s elementaries. Through this middle school program, youth continue to improve their traffic safety skills and practice riding on the street. All of this takes place under the supervision of trained staff and using equipment provided by Cascade. The program serves the community by inspiring healthy living, building confidence and providing a fun opportunity for middle school students.
The advanced program will reach 3,000 students per year in all of the middle schools in the Edmonds School District.
